So after the Lamp Seller left me negative feedback ("DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUYER! RECEIVED ITEM IN 7 DAYS AND LEFT BAD FEEDBACK!" -- which, ew, LIES, and I commented that he'd promised to ship within two days of receiving payment, instead shipped eight days after receiving payment, and I left NEUTRAL feedback -- but I'm not prepared to go through the whole Process of having things removed, because who cares that much?), my feedback score is -1, because I use eBay so vanishingly seldom. No biggie, right? Except that I go to buy something with a Buy It Now button, and I can't, because the seller has automatically excluded people with negative star ratings.

Fucking argh.

Fortunately, I am allowed to contact the seller and try to work something out. So I do, promising that I'm a decent buyer but infrequent user and this one seller was upset that I'd left him neutral feedback about how he never answered a single communication; and she got back to me within two hours to say she'd added me to the approved-buyer list and I should be able to go ahead. And I double-checked with her the shipping cost, which wasn't listed, and then went ahead and bought the thing, and paid immediately, and she sent me a message letting me know she'd received the payment, and then another message this morning that the thing had shipped.

Fucking YAY!

It's nice to have a positive experience to take the bad taste out of your mouth, no? I just hope she leaves me a positive feedback to bring my score back to 0, because if there are automatic consequences to negative numbers, that I can live without. (I won an auction three or four years ago where I left the seller positive feedback and she never left me a thing. If only! This recent yutz's negative wouldn't have caused me that much trouble.)

Package arrived today - still no contact from the seller, mind you; it would have killed him to respond to my e-mail or to call and say "I shipped it on Monday"?  (Postmark 10/8.)  [livejournal.com profile] resonant8 asked if I was sure the payment was delivered, but I have no idea how to find that out.  I see from my PayPal that my card was charged on 9/27 and, in a related transaction, the payment to the seller was completed on 9/27.  Does that mean he got the money on ... 9/27?  Which was a Thursday.  So allowing two business days, he should have shipped the thing on 10/1, and was therefore off his auction's promise by a week.  Add the total lack of communication and you have a buyer who is all the way to disgruntled;

[it is now Thursday:  Okay, I was sure I had posted the above last night.  For "today" in the above paragraph, read "Wednesday 10/10".  Turns out I just began writing it last night, and then got distracted by ... I don't even know what.  Feedback, probably.  The end of the story is, I left neutral feedback, saying I was very satisfied with the condition of the item as described but not satisfied or unsatisfied with the seller's shipping (he charged $9 for shipping but the postmark says $7.50; but I suppose the box and packing materials may have set him back another buck and a half) and very unsatisfied with his communication - and used my 80 characters to clarify that there was no communication at all and a week between when he should have shipped and when he did.]

[eta:  And the little shit left me negative feedback!  Sure, that he can get off his ass and do in a hurry.  Ah well.  He says "received item in 7 days and left bad feedback"; I say "promised to ship 2 days after pmt. shipped 10 days after pmt. i left NEUTRAL fb." Anyone who cares to can check into it, but I use eBay so infrequently that it hardly matters.]

So I won this ebay auction on September 27. Clicked through and paid by PayPal on the 28th. I have heard nothing, not one peep, from the seller; a week or so ago (I guess) I sent a message through ebay's "contact the seller" feature, and got no response, and today I did so again, and so far have heard nothing. I had ebay send me the direct contact information, so the seller now has mine as well; at what point do I call and say "So nu?" before initiating some sort of Item Not Received complaint? (The listing said the item would be shipped within two days of receiving payment, and the seller is in Waldorf, which isn't that far away - plus I've had no notification of shipping or anything like that.)

I'm not going to call until I get to my phone this afternoon when I get back to the car, and see if he called there (since that's the number I listed), but I'm not optimistic. Advice please?
