Deadline in ... 38.5 hours. Today I had some work I could do and then some work I had to wait for someone else to do and then a meeting where I confirmed some stuff and realized some other stuff had been really wrong this whole time. And then I went to the dentist, which took every minute of the full hour I had budgeted in travel time, and where instead of drilling up three teeth he thoughtfully only drilled up two. And then on my way home I had to stop at the grocery store because I can never keep track of when I need to buy milk - that is, when I go grocery shopping at the weekend I am never right about whether to buy milk or not - and I also needed cake mix so I can make cupcakes for my team on Friday like I promised. Then the radio said there had been a big accident right at my corner and how I wasn't going to be able to get to my little lane from anywhere at this intersection, so I went a different (longer) way so I could come at it from a different direction, and as soon as I'd committed to that way the radio said the accident had been cleared and all the lanes were open again.
But I finally got home, and while I was waiting for the novocaine to wear off I got the guest room ready for the friends who are crashing with me starting tomorrow, and I took out the trash and the recycling, and there are only three more days of antibiotics left, and now I have egg drop ramen and am watching yesterday's White Collar. And tonight maybe I won't be as monumentally exhausted as I was last night when it's time to go to bed. And tomorrow I will do lots of work and then come home and make the cupcakes and my guests will be here and then Friday we will finish the thing and then I will go have my head examined.

Feb. 10th, 2010 10:56 amI woke up at about 6:30 this morning and looked outside and would have sworn it had stopped snowing. And maybe it had lightened up; but when I woke up the next time and looked out the window in the daylight, I saw that it was just because the snow was so fine it was invisible but filling the air. Looking at the parking lot now, it's pretty clear we're on our way to wondering why we bothered spending all that time digging on Sunday. Sigh.
