fox: arctic fox: time to hibernate (hibernate)
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A36829-2003May9.html

my mother is a student at CWRU law school. she's done with her finals by now, and wasn't even in the state this afternoon, but dude, someone shoots up the building across the street from the law school and i only hear about it eight hours later?

i now hear on CNN that they've got the guy, after a seven-hour standoff, and two people are wounded, the pregnant woman mentioned in the news story was not hurt but was taken to the hospital anyway, but CNN also said one person was killed, and then didn't say who. one suspect, in custody; two victims, both in stable condition; who's dead?

and why didn't my father call me?

fucking sniper flashbacks. i need a drink.
fox: a big hug. (hug)
yeah, this is the wine we won at the funspiel. knew i'd get around to drinking it eventually.

the great thing about being me and typing while you're drunk is that you may make drunken typing errors, but you're very precise about seeing and correcting them. ace. total number of errors: none. (speed: much lower than when sober.)

have concluded that connection with six-month-old sniper thing didn't occur to dad. this, combined with the fact that daughter-doesn't-regularly-watch-the-news didn't occur to him, leads to a situation where it might not register with him that an e-mail containing the words "horrible situation" and "Mom" and "gunman" in rapid succession would freak me right out. will, therefore, not yell at him about it -- partly "therefore", i mean, and partly because, what, i'm going to say "listen, dad, next time this happens, here's how to let me know"?! as if.

going to bed now. happy saturday.
