i have a Plan.
Oct. 4th, 2003 11:53 ammy parents will be here next weekend. this means my place has got to be in better shape than it is now. (it's been in worse shape, don't get me wrong -- but it's not parent-ready.)
the trouble is that i am rapidly running out of Places To Put Things Away. there's no room for any more video tapes. there's no room for any more books. there's not really room for any more clothes. trouble is, there are tapes and books and clothes sitting on the couch waiting to be put away.
i have a file literally stuffed full of envelopes stuffed full of receipts, which i really should get out and chron and throw away anything older than about ten months (except for if it's a major appliance -- of which i own one, my air conditioner -- that might still be under warranty). this won't solve anything book~video~clothing-wise, but it will make it easier to file things.
i should also go through the drawers and jettison clothes i no longer wear.
there's a couple of loose petals i need to glue onto my bouquet from my friend's wedding, and then i should put it in this vase (=drinking glass) i have waiting for it, with some glass pebbles to keep it upright. actually i should probably put it in the glass first, so it'll be still while i fix it.
schoolwork! i have papers to grade, but they won't be difficult; i should plan my handout and assignment for this week so i'm not stuck doing it an hour before class, as is my custom; and, oh yeah, i have papers to read for my own classes, screw these kids i'm teaching.
and i have about 36 hours to work with before monday comes. so what am i doing? staring at the computer screen, natch ...

writer/director and co-writer commentary on bend it like beckham --
w/d: this is one of those scenes that you -- i mean, i don't even remember writing it, because it's so much theirs, so much their words.
co-writer: i think it's because i wrote it.
(he admitted he was just joking after she laughed for a minute, but damn that was funny. [g])
