i've had some vague things flitting through my head that i thought i'd post for several days now, but the only one sticking in my mind is the interesting fact that my hair is now too long for me to toss over my shoulder.

not that i go around tossing my hair on a regular basis. when i notice it is when i pick up my bag and put the strap on my shoulder; it inevitably traps hair under it, as happens when you have long hair and a shoulderbag. the normal two ways to get the hair out from under the strap are to reach over with the opposite hand and tug the hair out from under the strap and drop it behind your neck, or, if (as has been the case with me for some time now) the hair is too long for that -- because some large number of ends would break if you did this -- you reach up with the same hand, lift the bag strap off your shoulder, and toss your head to get the hair off your shoulder and hanging straight down your back where it belongs. but i can't do this now; even if i set my bag down on the floor, if i toss my head the bottom three or four inches of hair stays where it is, and only the middle of it swings back behind me. moving my hair out from under my bag strap is now a two-handed process: i have to lift the bag off my shoulder with my left hand and reach over with my right hand and pull the hair out from under it.

oh! and, i filed my nails. i don't know why this is always such an achievement for me. it's just that i hate doing it, but i also hate not having done it, so when i get them from Too Long to Formerly Too Long, i'm always inordinately pleased.
