YAY! for going ahead and using the expression "hocking", which does not mean "pawning", you silly gentiles -- it's short for hock mir in chainik, which means "knock me in [a] teapot". if you're pestering and nagging and nudzhing someone until they just want you to leave them alone already and stop fussing about hey-hey-what-about-this-huh-isn't-it-a-good-idea-huh, they might say to you, "don't hock mir in chainik."
AND, and, oh, the brilliance. here's aaron s. talking about william goldman, the BRILLIANT william goldman, and what he's saying goldman says is how important it is as a writer to know something the audience doesn't know -- i'm doing a little DANCE, here.
