GIP!

fox: fox, UK flag, for living abroad (fox UK - by lysrouge)
from [livejournal.com profile] lysrouge! huzzah!

(they hunt foxes here, of course. i pass by a sign on my way to class that says -- i forget what the first line says, and the second line is "KEEP HUNTING." it's a bumper sticker in someone's living room window. but i think i'm not the sort of fox that they like to set dogs on and then tear off the ears and paint their chins with the blood. i think that's some other kind of fox.)

there are fireworks going off outside. i can see them a little bit through the trees. i'm not sure why. bonfire night isn't for another couple of weeks. are these maybe "GO RED SOX" type fireworks?
fox: blair, brandon, and hermione: 3/3 geeks say 'huzzah' (geeks)
THE RED SOX WIN THE PENNANT! THE RED SOX WIN THE PENNANT!

in other (tmi) news, i have finally begun coughing as productively as a person needs to when she's got this kind of chest cold.* got a sharp little core of ick today, which in my experience is usually the beginning of the end, as though that bit were an irritant and all the rest were the body's way of trying to force it out. i know that's not how phlegm works -- as if you had a splinter in your bronchiae -- but still getting rid of that bit has always been a turning point for me. yay.

* the nurse, yesterday, when i mentioned it, said "Yes, everybody's got it, I'm afraid." and when i said i only brought it up because i'd coughed up a hunk of green phlegm and i know green is sometimes (though not always) a bad color for that sort of thing, she said "Better out than in!" heh.
fox: a big hug. (hug)
i had a very unsettling dream last night (more likely this morning), in which [livejournal.com profile] the_emu had suddenly died and i was the first to find out and i found out by e-mail and i had no choice but to tell most of the rest of you by e-mail and LJ and there was much wailing and breast-beating and garment-rending and a lot of people exhibiting entirely understandable shock and waxing quite beautifully elegiac about [livejournal.com profile] the_emu, and i couldn't say anything, because i was utterly numb.

it was extremely vivid. i was alarmed for a solid ten minutes when i woke up before i realized it had just been a dream.

[hugs [livejournal.com profile] the_emu tight]
