things that are bad:

it has been something like a week since there has been any sunshine. i know i'm in england, but damn. for a while there, we'd get sunshine and rain on the same day -- sometimes literally at the same time, which i've never understood; if i can see where the clouds are, and they're not above me, how can it be raining where i am? -- but lately it is just gloomy and grey. there's barely any sunlight.

50 degrees here is colder than 50 degrees should be, i think. have plans to update the sweater selection in my wardrobe when i'm home for christmas. i have several sweaters that i never choose to wear anymore because the style of Wearing Things Far Too Big is a thing of the past. i'd probably deal with it in the interim if Far Too Big didn't also make the sleeves Far Too Long, but now they just drive me bananas.

ooh, that's another good thing!

although this bed is significantly less cushy and comfortable even than the bed i sleep in at my parents' house, to say nothing of the bed i slept in at my own home for five years, the six weeks i've been here have been enough to make it comfortable qua "my bed". yay.

rampant and totally un-ironic local use of the word qua.
