ROCK ME LIKE A HURRICANE
Mar. 21st, 2005 01:31 amso having left the curling club at 7:30 to get to the airport on time, i finally arrived back at my parents' house at 12:30 am.
i could have driven that far in approximately one more hour. RAR.
anyway. vacation progresses to Phase 2. curling was good all week, though of course one could wish Team Maryland had done better. le sigh. had dinner last night with
datlowen and friend M from college, followed by TV and then a fire alarm and then the day after tomorrow on dvd with
datlowen and
jgesteve, which was every bit as dumb as
m15m said. then brunch this morning with
datlowen,
mearagrrl,
fafou,
esti626,
ellen_fremedon, and the lovely
sanj, whom i was glad to finally meet.
and then more curling! lurked at the club during the board meeting (actually they were somewhere else, so i was lurking at the end of juniors), and then offered myself as a spare for the early sunday draw. was placed at second on Smug Bastard's team. (
datlowen: how's it going? me: same old, same old.
datlowen: only more so. me: exactly.) i was actually fine, despite T the Lead's unwitting twisting of knife in wound (fortunately where Smug Bastard couldn't hear her). and especially, also, following a conversation from earlier in the week:
so, you know, it's not that it's easy or anything. i keep waiting for it to go away, and it keeps on not. but i do feel less Wretched and/or Pathetic, and more Stoic if not Serene. anyway. got a "thank god you're playing" out of him in, i believe the second (or possibly fourth) end, because the combined skill level of his normal front end (T the Lead and B-whom-i-was-sparing-for) tends to make sundays a little frustrating. [shrug] i'll take it where i can get it, you know? :-)
oy. and then the sainted
datlowen drove me to the airport, where i checked in and waited and waited for a delayed flight that once we were boarded didn't actually leave the gate for like twenty minutes and then taxied forever and then waited on the runway even longer and finally took off, was in the air for about 45 minutes, and landed -- and they wouldn't let us off until they moved the gate-checked bags to the top of the jet-bridge. even those of us who didn't have gate-checked bags. rar.
but, am home now. will sleep soon. yay.

me: also, hi. i mean, what, you don't say hi anymore?
smug bastard: did i ever?
me: fair point. but you used to at least make faces. ... yes, like that.
