fox: bob fraser: miss me? (miss me)
being a sophomore is a particular feeling -- you definitely still feel relatively new to wherever you are, and yet here are all these freshfolk who know nothing and are turning to you for guidance.  you're more enthusiastic about answering people's questions than almost anyone is from the years ahead of you.

it's a thing one can see happening to oneself, when one has done it before.  and to one's friends -- pretty soon, the way B-from-downstairs has been talking as though he's been here forever is going to make me kind of nuts (we were both sophomores nine years ago, only at that time, one of us was a sophomore in high school; think that might have something to do with it?).

in other news, it is coldcold here all of a sudden (okay, it's in the low 50's, but with the damp and without central air, that's pretty chilly); i e-mailed my whole conference paper and handout to my supervisor with a note about how i have indeed been making progress even if he hasn't been seeing it, and i hope he's not terribly disappointed in me; and i've been looking (already!) at applications to scholarships and whatnot in the hope of someone other than me paying for next year.

and i am tiiired.
fox: arctic fox: time to hibernate (hibernate)
A-- go to my fanfiction (here, once squidge resumes behaving properly) and pick out a line or two from one of my stories.
B-- I will respond with which story I think it's from.
C-- points and a scene [in this case, a ficlet of 100-400 words]* to anyone who stumps me.

Obviously, you'd do well to pick something challenging, but lines like "Very well, then" will be disqualified as overly vague.

*(as [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw said:  eventually.  um.  possibly immediately, or maybe next week.  clearly deadlines are no longer my strong suit.
