baby steps
Nov. 7th, 2005 10:29 pmthis afternoon's unscheduled three-hour nap caused me to miss a lecture i was (more or less) expected at and (actually) looking forward to, adding an extra dimension to my crankiness. i thought about not going to choir practice, because really, who's in shape for it? -- but then i thought:
so along i went, and i was glad i did. i do feel a little bit better, from the fresh air and, i don't know, possibly from the controlled breathing? and also because the rehearsal director (a little bit of hero-worship? maybe just a tad) always makes me laugh, so, yay for lifted spirits. (today's gem: "right, altos, this time, sing it as if you believe it. that sounded like a wet afternoon at skegness.")
bought some fruit on my way home, and also some more bottled water to mix with my ribena so i don't have to use tap water. e-mailed a professor to apologize for missing the thing this afternoon and generally self-flagellate a bit about how much i hate being sick because it's a) uncomfortable and b) inconvenient, especially in an eight-week term. will go to bed soon.
in good news, i did manage to have a good meeting with my supervisor this morning.
- if i'd just changed into my pajamas and gone to bed at 5:30 i'd wake up around midnight and not be able to get back to sleep until about 6am, and right there i'd be off in my own time zone and the whole week would be shot, which i can't afford
- the concert is on december 3, so there aren't that many (weekly) rehearsals left, and therefore missing one is a biggish deal; when you miss two, you have to apply in writing to be allowed to sing the concert
