a good day

Got Things Done today.  Got everything done I needed to at work, and made a good start at the next thing I'm doing.  Straightened up my desk and shelves.  Paid bills.  Made travel arrangements for weekend hop to Boston in a couple of weeks, when (a) I will get to see my cousin and her [counts on fingers] three-month-old (or so) son; it's a party for her graduation (finishing her residency, I think) and his baptism, so yay family get-togethers not motivated by funerals; and (b) I will get to hang out with my brother, and as it happens my sister-in-law will be out of town and my parents won't be there, so we will have more face time than we usually get.  Called insurance, and determined that the windshield is covered by my comprehensive, so they pay everything after the first $250.  Called glass people recommended by insurance people, and got a higher quote than the TV-ad place, but oddly I have more confidence in that, and anyway I'm going to be paying the same either way.  On advice of glass lady, decided to have this done closer to the time the inspection is due, because transferring the inspection sticker will void it.  Called dealer about 100K service, and decided (once I got off the phone) not to have it at all, because spending $350 for an oil change and wheel alignment and 27-point inspection when I don't think there's anything to discover in the summer seems goofy, when 20K from now I can pay $650 for the major service in time for the winter.  So that's my plan.  And then:  passed 100K, on Howard Road right before getting on the Sousa bridge!  [pats car]

Now I'm going to watch more of the Ehle/Firth Pride and Prejudice (I know he's more famous, but it vaguely bugs me that it's normally thought of as his version, and that his picture is bigger on the cover art, because hi, it's a story about both of them, but more about her, right? POV character much? anyway.) (okay, and this meeting between Lizzie and Georgiana? is making me cry, the way they're playing it) and tidy my living room in preparation for ellen_fremedon and sanj coming over for Movie Fun Time tomorrow.  Yay!
