It has occurred to me that if I had kids, I might feel about Mother's Day the way I already feel about Valentine's Day -- but I don't know, because I don't feel that strongly about it, and I'm not sure that's just because I don't have kids. And I've never felt that way about birthdays, right, or many other occasions. (For sure, though, I'm very very glad that the jewelry people will stop buying advertising time on the television in such quantities until October or so.)

But it is Mother's Day here in North America, and so I hope it is a good one for the moms and mom-types and mom-equivalents on my flist, which I believe includes
