pittsburgh yay!
Jul. 5th, 2008 08:35 amArrived in really good time Thursday evening. Mangled our first game, Friday noonish, alas; won our second, Friday 7pm, so we're still alive, but our next loss will knock us out. :-( Ah well. Curling, huzzah. Also mini-golf. Love. :-D
Had a scary moment of what I guess was low blood sugar during the first game yesterday. Breakfast at about 9:45, which is quite late, but I didn't have much breakfast, I suppose, given that I was going to be curling, which is admittedly not the most strenuous activity ever, but is still nine thousand times more activity than I normally get between breakfast and lunch. Game was at 12:30, which is when I normally have lunch, if I've had breakfast around 8. Didn't have lunch before the game, and then in the sixth end -- so, about 1:45, I guess -- my arms felt kind of noodly as they often do when you're unaccustomed to sweeping really hard, but they didn't come back when I sort of tried to shake some blood into them. Likewise my legs felt really weak. It was very strange. Drank some water and my hand shook. I got someone to bring some graham crackers and pretzels out to the ice, because I thought, you know, light-headed is about five minutes away, and based on what I hear from others I believe tingly fingers is another ten minutes after that, and that won't do, will it. I got through the game okay, and we got to the table about 3:00 and my teammate had to remind super-lethargic!me that if I ate a damn sandwich I'd feel better. So we were careful to eat dinner before our second game, and our game today is at 12:30 and we will absolutely have lunch first. Yes.
Moral: eat food at mealtimes! You'll be happier that way.
Don't know what I'm going to do about Who tonight. I'll be busy with the curling when it airs and goes up for download, and likely won't be able to stay up for it when we get back to the hotel tonight. I will probably let it download overnight so I won't have to wait to watch it when I finally get home tomorrow. So y'all probably won't hear from me at all until Monday morning. :-P
