VICTORY IS IN SIGHT

So you all saw how my Saturday went.  Fortunately, that was followed by Sunday, so at least morale was up going into the work week and the final few days of my tenancy at the old apartment.

Oh, extra fun bonus:  when I got to the old place this evening, there was a letter under the door from the management company, alerting me to the fact that the cost of operating the building continues to rise, so as of September 1 my rent would increase by another 5.8%, the rat bastards, with the new monthly total being ... $8 less than I'm paying at the new place.  I grant, as I always do, that the rent at the old place includes utilities and at the new place it does not; but aside from that, I'm going from a 550 sq ft studio to a 750 sq ft 2BR for an increase of less than $10/month + utilities, and am now fully fifteen miles closer to work.  On balance, I think I win, kind of a lot.

Most of the paint is going to need another coat, but not the blue walls in the living room.  (The blue frontage of the duct work, yes.  But that's another story.)  So I pulled up the masking and replaced the switchplates and put the sofa and the chair and the ottoman and the end table and the lamp where I've decided they're going to stay.  Various computer bits are secreted away on the lower shelf of the end table, so they don't clutter up the living room, but are still relatively easy to get to -- and if one day soon I replace the router with a wireless router, the computer won't even be bound to this corner of the room.  (Except when I want to plug it in, which is usually -- but I don't strictly speaking need to keep it plugged in.  I just tend to unless there's a compelling reason to run it off the battery.)
