ooh, almost missed sunday.
Nov. 2nd, 2008 11:12 pmIf I'm going to make a post every day in November, it's a good idea not to forget to do this on the 2nd. Although I think I will not be able to do so on the 4th, so it may all be for naught. (I shall see if I can set up the Txt-LJ thinger, and then I may conquer the month of November after all.)
I seldom go to the farmers' market, but today I did so with
ellen_fremedon and
sanj, and I got a couple of lovely pears that are green enough to be exactly what I want pears to be. Usually I don't buy pears, because I always find them disappointing -- I want them to be like apples, only pears, if you see what I mean; I want them to be as firm as good crisp apples, but taste like pears. Of course that's not what pears are, is it, so I normally just don't get them. (I normally don't get plums because my success at choosing them is no better than chance, but that's another story.) So these are a little underripe, these pears, and that's marvelous for me. Also got four apples, one each of Braeburn, Stayman, Winesap, and ... the other one. I forget. And a pint each of apple and pear cider, and the pear was the last pint, and I got it right before someone else was about to reach for it!, so yay, success for me.
Brunch, groceries, a moderately successful trip to the mall, and a blanket with wires in for cold nights in my drafty apartment, two loads of laundry, and I unloaded my dishwasher and swept my floors. How productive has this day been? Plus I packed a little bag for my all-hands-on-deck trip to Pennsylvania for election day. I'm heading up after work tomorrow, and spending the day ... doing something they haven't told me yet. But it will be something useful! Something more useful than sitting on my duff in sapphire-blue Maryland, at any rate. Yes. (Vote!)
I, um. Had another thought a second ago, but it's gone now. D'oh.
