That's the second sock; the second sock inside-out, to show why we weave in ends as we go so we don't get to where we're finished and then have this staring us in the face before it counts as being done (which I did, so no worries); and the accumulated ends trimmed off both socks.

Picture of both socks together will follow when I can get both of them in the same room, probably on [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon's feet.  w00t!

I had HMS Pinafore (and later Iolanthe) on in the car on (part of) the interminable drive home on Sunday, and ever since then I've been unable to get it out of my head. Bits of the score keep popping up and singing themselves and look, as earworms go, a person really can't complain about G&S in general and Pinafore in particular, but god, it's been a while now.

So I just got on the Savoyards mailing list and ticked Sure, Tell Me About Auditions, because I figured what the hell, I definitely need something else to do with my abundant spare time, and I have exactly the sort of English soprano those parts are written for. (And, who knows, maybe a couple of years left in which I could fake "ingenue". [g] Fake, mind you. But like Barrymore said, the trick to acting is to be yourself -- and if you can fake that, you've got it made.) Maybe it'll drive out the subconscious soundtrack, if nothing else.

Two curling items of great moment:
  1. We won our game tonight, yay; and
  2. MY TEAM HAS THE BYE TOMORROW NIGHT.
This is tremendous.  I cannot tell you how elated I am to have the evening off.  OMFG.  I'm going to come home from work and sit on the couch and not be supposed to be anywhere.  Love love love.
