I have finished the first Flutterby sock (using Neighborhood Fiber Arts "Dupont Circle", what else?), and not only is it fabulous and cushy and warm and covered with yarn butterflies, BUT it is the most successful sock I have yet made for myself in terms of the stretchiness of its cuff and the height and depth of its heel. I have worked out the dimensions of my own ankle, y'all! I have no doubt that these will be my favorite socks for a long time, and further that a day will come when my drawer contains mostly if not exclusively hand-knit socks.

You guys -- you really must see Stephen Colbert's "Tip of the Hat" to Rush Limbaugh tonight. It's unreal. It kind of miraculous.

(God, and then he goes on to a "Wag of the Finger" at Sean Hannity, and it's almost as good.)
