Two more items:

1. The Master Chorale of Washington is folding. Very sad. I don't sing with them, but I'd considered giving them a shot -- and now I won't have that chance. They're doing (Carmina Burana on May 17 and) the Deutsches Requiem with NSO April 9-11; anyone want to go and wish them farewell?

2. I have a bruise on my right hand exactly where another person's thumb would go in a handshake. Needn't be a person with a big hand, either; twistedchick's thumb fit against it nicely yesterday when I was showing her that yes, that's probably how it got there. No idea who's been shaking my hand so roughly, but the fact remains, I have someone else's thumbprint on my hand. Hrm.

okay, i concede.

I was going to leave at 4:30. It's Friday afternoon, right, and everybody I work for is gone (not that they care anyway), and there's work I'm going to do over the weekend at home, so a half-hour off the corner won't even be dishonest, much less hurt anyone.

But I didn't. I dawdled and played a little minesweeper, and at 4:45 my phone rang -- and it was a potential interview subject returning my call, and she's going away for a month and will be back for two days before leaving again, so I scheduled her for the second of those days, which is right at the end of our data-gathering period anyway, SO if I hadn't been here we wouldn't have gotten that interview.

In short: my staying until 5pm on a Friday has materially benefited my project. Who knew?

And now I am home, and what I intend to do for the next 60 hours approx. is NOTHING. (Except bring sanj cold medicine and/or soup if she needs it.)
