Three-hour setback yesterday, which sucked: but I guess it's inevitable, where at least once no matter how many times you count your stitches you will turn out to have picked up 23 before the first marker and then cast on 48 and placed the second marker and cast on 24 ... and alas for you if you only notice this when you've decreased down to 12 before the first marker, so you think you're halfway done with the block, but there are still 26 between markers and 13 after the second one. ALAS. Spent quite a while trying to find if I'd made the mistake somewhere along the way, because I really had counted the stitches several times, but then ended up ripping back to the first row, where sure enough, I had to pick up one more and then resume. GAH.
Anyway, though, I'm now back to where I was when I discovered the error, i.e., halfway done with the block, and properly so this time. This afghan may kill me, but not without a fight.
Blocks in complete afghan: 55
Blocks completed as of this morning: 33 1/2 (which you'd think would be 60.90909...%)
Actual percent of work done: 60.833333...
Target date: August 17
Today's date: July 14
Days remaining: 34, less a few for shipping
Blocks remaining: 21.5
Blocks per day to stay on target given 34 days: a little less than two thirds of a block; blocks are of different sizes, so this means a different amount of work each day, but I'm not prepared to do more math right now [g]
Blocks per day to stay on target given, say, 28 days: a little more than three quarters of a block; also, this assumes can work on the thing every day, which I can tell you right now won't really be possible - but can do a whole block in an evening when it's a small square, sometimes even when it's a rectangle, and can do more than a whole block on a weekend day e.g.
Bright side: I have in fact made up a teensy bit of ground since three days ago, even given last evening's setback.
