Somewhere in the noon hour [personal profile] ellen_fremedon came over so I could run her to the pet store and the IKEA and the Target. We accomplished these errands, and Ellen did very well in the IKEA - given what I've seen the place do to her in the past, I was very impressed indeed. :-) And then home, and I changed into workier clothes and went back over to her place, and did a quick run to the Giant for cat litter and lots of beverages, and then back to her place again for delivery-accepting and book-ferrying and furniture-building and shelf-moving and dinner-ordering and Ellen-soothing. And knee-banging against the kitchen doorframe.

To sum up: (1) I completely won the whole day when I put Ellen's Dalek hat on her head and said "RELOCATE! RELOCATE!" And (2) ow.

So as I mentioned earlier, I whacked my knee against Ellen's kitchen doorframe while I was getting the nice young man delivering Ellen's IKEA stuff a glass of lemonade. Of course what I got was the very point of the boniest part of my knee, so of course after the expected couple of minutes of ow-that-was-my-funny-bone, it has continued to hurt like hell. When I keep still it's fine, but if it's been bent and I straighten it or if it's been straight and I bend it, ow ow ow. And no pain relievers at Ellen's place, because she can't take them! Fun times.

So when I got home I took a handful of ibuprofen even before I sat down - but it wasn't long before I decided I'd probably better put some ice on it before I go to bed, because otherwise when I wake up who knows what shape it'll be in. I grabbed an "ice pack" (you know, frozen stuff, whatever) out of the freezer and strapped it to my knee with an ace bandage, but the only one I could find was one with metal clips. No problem for now, but it feels so much better just having the pressure on it that I'm thinking of wrapping it loosely while I sleep so I don't wake up from the shocking pain of accidentally bending my knee. I know I've got a bandage that closes with velcro, but where the hell is it?!

Finally found it in a box of picture frames in the front closet. Of course! :-)

And now I will have something to drink and put the ice pack back in the freezer and go to bed and sleep like a rock.
