i'm sure this is a metaphor.
Aug. 12th, 2009 11:57 pmThe last block is a little more than 3/4 done, and I am out of yarn.
I suspected I would run out, you remember, and it turned out I was right, sigh, so I bought another skein on the way home today - hoping I'd get to the end and not have to wind it up and be able to return it, but alas. So I'm equipped, but listen, the original yarn was ordered online from The Loopy Ewe, and the extra skein was bought at my local yarn shop, which means they are different dye lots, and I'm relatively sure I'm the only one who can see the difference, but I'm kind of petrified that I'll knit it up and the bottom left-hand corner will be a whole different shade. This is charming when it's my grandmother switching from pink thread to peach thread at the end of a band of lace because she's eighty-nine and losing her eyesight, but kind of a disaster when it's me.
I'm going to leave the replacement skein on top of the half-knit block so I can look at it in the morning in natural light, and go to bed and give myself the night to try to get over the idea of calling TLE first thing in the morning to see if they have a skein from the correct dye lot, and having them overnight it to me.
