home again
Aug. 16th, 2009 10:11 pmI had a marvelous weekend visiting with my brother (and bonus
datlowen and A) and 48+ hours offline. It was exactly what I needed, to Be Away from Things Here, and I'm so glad I went.
The drives up and down were uneventful, thank goodness, because adding events to the length would have been really unfair. Roads that hate me include, in the north-and-east direction, I-95 between about Columbia and about Havre de Grace; the run-up to the Delaware Memorial Bridge; the southernmost 30 or 40 miles of the NJ Turnpike; and the Cross-Bronx Expressway. Roads that hate me in the south-and-west direction include the Mass Pike from maybe fifteen miles west of Cambridge all the way to the junction with 84, which sucked, losing an hour of travel time that early in the trip, lemme tell you what; the Saw Mill Parkway, which I thought might have shown me some love since I was counting on it to spare me the Cross-Bronx nonsense; the run-up to the Delaware Memorial Bridge; and I-95 between about Havre de Grace and about Columbia. Grr.
BUT I am home now, and very pleased to have gone and to be back. Yay.
