mid-week roundup

sadcypress is my most favoritest person ever, because she drives me to rehearsal - which means I don't have to look for a parking space after 10:00. I owe her gas money and batches of cookies and songs of praise.
2. So we're about ready for the Verdi Requiem. I tend to think, as I'm heading off to rehearsal, "Here we go a-Verdi-ing". So naturally it's a short step from there to "Wassail, Wassail", of which I know the first line is Wassail, wassail, all over the town, but I swear every time I try to think of the next line, all I come up with is the Bronx is up and the Battery's down. We had a fun few minutes in the break of planning a caroling mashup, because, right, just as you can sing "Sweet Caroline" to the tune of "Sweet Child of Mine" and vice versa, you can do this with the Gloucestershire Wassail and "New York, New York". I wish I could hum on DW/LJ - then you'd all see what I mean.
3. I am determined not to turn the heat on until November. (It's technically on now, but set at 55 just so the pipes don't freeze. It's definitely cold in this apartment, but not quite that cold yet.) I have therefore put the heated blanket on my bed tonight, because it's warm enough by the time I've slept in it all night, but freezing cold when I get in it, and I'd rather not shiver myself to sleep.
