this may be a DW-dev type question.
Nov. 6th, 2009 11:21 amI don't want to open a support ticket, because I'm not dealing with anything that's actually broken, and rather than possibly drop in on a wrong community I thought I'd just ask here and y'all can either help or point me to where the help is. :-)
So when I got the DW account I imported the whole LJ, as many of us did. No actual problems there. But since then, I've been cleaning up old tag issues on LJ, consolidating, renaming, making sure things are in fact properly tagged, etc. It's a big job; I got the LJ in December of 2001, and have been slowly (when I have both time and inclination) going through every. bloody. post to make sure it's tagged correctly, since renaming tags only gets a person so far (esp. as collapsing tags together is still, as far as I know, impossible, so I've got tags that were split under the old 100-post limit that could be lumped under the new 1000-post limit, but this has to be done by hand).
Obviously, the imported posts on DW will still have the old (wrong) tags. Eventually this will bug me enough that I'll want to correct it. I think the solution would be to 1) delete everything in my DW that's dated before the import; 2) switch off crossposting omg; 3) reimport the LJ; and 4) delete the duplicates of everything since the import, where I'd have just imported everything I've crossposted since moving to DW. Question: am I right? is this possible? Is there an easier way? I know I can delete individual entries; can I delete a date range, or am I going to be deleting eight years' worth of entries one (or one screen, which is a dozen or so?) at a time? More interestingly, can I import a date range? That'd be cool, wouldn't it?
