Rental at the curling club tonight. We're teaching people to deliver using stabilizers now, instead of brooms, because it's a lot easier to learn; and on my sheet we had one of the knocked-together PVC pipe stabilizers and one red pointy one. I taught my people to use the red pointy one with the pointy end forward. During the game, the guy coaching at the other end of the sheet told them to use it the other way around; and when they said I'd taught them this way, he said well, she's wrong.
Guy at the other end of the sheet has been curling for juuust over a year, I might point out, and I've been curling since March 2002. Which, whatever, it doesn't actually matter that we don't agree on the right way to use a pointy stabilizer - in fact, it doesn't actually matter which way a person uses a pointy stabilizer. :-P I have in fact determined that the reason I'm so annoyed is (a) this rank rookie told people I was wrong (instead of, you know, that we disagree), and (b) this is the asshole who, when Smug Bastard invited him to join our team for the internal spiel last December, said he hadn't decided whether to play in it yet and he'd let us know if (if) he decided one way or the other. No thanks for the invite, no ETA on making a decision, nothing. (We got another teammate without waiting to hear from him.) So it turns out my ability to hold a grudge is still intact. :-)
And now, having told y'all about it, I predict it will cease to grate at me.
