I dreamed I was supposed to go somewhere in a taxi, and I had booked an older lady who had a reputation for being able to get anyone anywhere in half an hour or less, and charging only about twenty bucks for it. But she had recently died, I think, and her son showed up in a yellow cab, and all he wanted was to talk to other drivers (in the heavy traffic - that bit is not at all mysterious) about how hard it was going to be for him to make the kind of living that she'd made, because he had to drive a regular taxi with the meter running and didn't have her kind of magic.

So I had to speak sternly to him about how I needed to get where I was going instead of sitting around and chatting, and he didn't know how to get there. [livejournal.com profile] esti626, who was in the back seat for some reason, told him to take the Virginia Avenue bridge, and we set off; I asked E what was the next step after the bridge, and he said let's just get over the bridge first, because it's still got a hole in it and I want him to focus. And it turned out that by "hole" he meant there was a whole panel missing that the cab was going to have to jump, and he didn't make it.

I could feel the sensation of plummeting, and I tried to remember whether it was land or water under the bridge, as though that would make a difference (and it was hard to remember, as there is no Virginia Avenue Bridge), and then I remember thinking You have to wake up. Right. Now. And I did.

(That was at about 3:30. It took a while to get back to sleep again, but I did, thank goodness.)

DCfolk: I'm flying out this Wednesday at 11:15, and my usual lift to the airport will be out of town at that time (in fact I'm driving her to the airport myself on Sunday ;-) ) Is anyone free to pick me up in sort of the first half of 9am on Wednesday and run me up to BWI? I'm all set for getting home the following Monday.

Thanks!

The space between my DVD racks is a haaair less than 32.5". It appears that the width of a 32" flatscreen TV is 31.125" (for a screen size of, actually, 31.5", which is good enough to be 32" class) - so I could get one of those and mount it on the wall, if I wanted, but I'll tell you what, I don't actually feel the need to mount the thing on the wall; and the width of a 37" flatscreen is 36.125, which means it would only cover about two inches of shelving on a side, and because it's only about three inches deep, I could still get to the shelving behind it.

I think I might do this. Not today, obviously, but after intending for months and months to get the measurements together and make a plan, I have finally done so. Maybe for my birthday!

Today I can't quite handle the state of my apartment, which must mean I'm feeling better. I can see a lot of chores in my future, along with grocery shopping.
