extra fun: just add ice
Feb. 1st, 2011 03:04 pmSo I am off tomorrow to Bismarck, ND to be Chief Umpire at the Senior Women's National Championship (of curling, in case you needed to be reminded).
Have a look at the map and ponder that for a sec.
In fact I seem to be okay - as long as the plane I'm supposed to get there on can get here, no problem. Baltimore, Minneapolis, Bismarck - all cities that are not, nor are they expected to be, under a foot or more of snow in the next twenty-four hours.
This is not true of, e.g., Chicago, Milwaukee, or Boston, all cities whose airports some teams coming to this event need in order to get to Bismarck. So I have just sent the following e-mail:
So far, nobody is railing at me. (Not that they'd be right if they did!, but the point is, they aren't.)
Three games a day is no fun and normally nobody is ever scheduled for three a day unless one or more of those games is a tiebreaker, but if that's the worst that happens, we'll all get out of this thing in one piece.
