Dear everyone:
The word criteria is plural. No, it really is. Really. It has a perfectly good singular in criterion, so can you please stop saying *the criteria is? Replace it with what it means, something like requirements, and you'll get the right verbs, and then you can swap the smart word back in again, if you like. Please?
I will not insist on datum or opus, and I can be persuaded to overlook ?corpuses (as long as you don't try to impress me with *corpi or similar), so, you know, I'm not a complete hardass. WHICH MEANS, if you ask me, it should be clear that the things I care about are things that actually matter. ;-)
