knitting progress

I am one sixteen-row stripe away from the end of the small-size blanket according to the pattern. I have enough yarn to get halfway to the large size - another stripe of 18 rows and then one of 20 - and had been thinking I'd do this. But each row is taking about half an hour at this point (why, why, why is purling so much slower than knitting?), and the idea of doing 54 more instead of 16 is kind of daunting.

Maybe it will look more promising in the morning.
