shoes update
Apr. 10th, 2012 07:37 pm(I will apparently do anything to avoid working on my resume, y'all. Damn.)
My fabulous "pale pink" (= Fox-skin-color, just about) new 'vogs arrived the very day after I had ordered them! And there was much rejoicing! And I tried them on, and the "throat" (as I learned it was called) was too narrow to admit all my metatarsals at once! WOE!
I called the store to say OH NOES, basically, and to wonder if the next size up might be juuust enough bigger to fit properly; and the girl I spoke to asked a series of questions by which we determined that the shoes are precisely the right length for my foot so the next size up wouldn't be a good solution; and the leather can be stretched with one of those shoe-stretching gizmos; and in fact just while I was talking to her I was able to work the left shoe onto my left foot, in a sort of legal sense. I mean to say, that's how supple the leather is, that just getting warm in my hands eased it enough that a thing that had been impossible was technically not impossible anymore.
So every couple of days I've been dragging them on for a few minutes in the evening, preparatory to taking them to the cobbler and having him do it properly. They do fit better every time. They are brilliant.
