The subject having come up - elsewhere - here is a list, based on my own tagged entries, of the dates I got my assignment in

yuletide in 2004-2010. (I didn't participate in the first or in the most recent yuletide.)

2004: November 9
2005: November 15
2006: November 3
2007: October 21
2008: November 11
2009: November 14
2010: November 22

2012 estimate: early November (assignments having closed October 28)

The deadline for submission has been variable as well, but I believe it has always been in the area of December 19-21. I feel like I remember it once being as early as December 14?, but that's crazy talk, and maybe that was just when I handed it in because I had a plane to catch. December 22 is as late as I can remember non-pinch-hits ever being due.
