superego: but but but what if we don't get this house and don't want that house and have to start over again looking for another house and what if it takes ages to find one and we've already given notice at this apartment and that means we have to find something soon and moving is such a pain and we have to pick one of the movers but we can't call them until we know where we're going and we can't know where we're going until we know if we got the house we want hey is that an e-mail from the manager no it's just a groupon omg moving is so stressful
ego: You're both right, but good grief. Look, superego, if we don't get this house and don't want that house we can start over again looking for another house and even if we end up with one we're not totally in love with -
id: YAY YAY YAY.
ego: - thank you - we're just renting, so it's not like we're making a forever sort of decision at this time, you know what I'm saying?
superego: but but but but
ego: And in a bind we can put stuff in storage and camp at Himself's place if the lease on a new place doesn't begin until the lease on the apartment ends.
superego: but
ego: God.
Fox: Girls. You are upsetting our stomach. Knock it off right this minute.

I'm at a place in my life where the ego is the most powerful, so I'm not actually in distress right now, except a little queasiness from all the acid the superego is kicking up. Damn, she's noisy.

In other fun stuff, my annual performance review is in half an hour. That's actually not so bad - I've kicked ass this year and everyone has said so, which will make getting the promotion I'm qualified for this summer and the merit increase we've just learned we're getting next year for the first time in six years (they said four, but they can't count) easier to count on. Yay.

(Side note not about products: my performance eval was, as predicted, a doddle. I see from the document I signed with today's date on it that we had a mid-period review meeting that I signed off on as well. I have no memory of having attended such a meeting, but that's probably because it was apparently on November 15, and there's a lot about last fall that has escaped me.)
