in the crucible
Mar. 22nd, 2015 04:44 pmThe messiest work in the downstairs part of our house is done for the moment, so although we're not ready to put the rugs back down, today we put the coffee table back in place in the living room. I am very glad for this, because for a few weeks I've had everything I wanted while I was sitting on the couch ... on the couch with me. Or on the back of the couch being held up by the wall. Four weeks ago I spent a Saturday holed up on the couch head down working on a work thing, and then more recently I had a nasty-migraine sick day, so my little couch home had got pretty crowded with blankets and heating pads and neck-support pillows and a box of tissues and my laptop and and and ... so being able to put stuff back on the coffee table and have the couch a little more to myself again.
Upstairs, though, tomorrow they're going to do a number of things (mechanical guy is here working on HVAC and the electrician is coming also), including framing in the linen/laundry closet. Which is going to involve taking part of our bedroom - knocking down a bit of wall and moving the bedroom door. So we've moved our mattress into the other bedroom, where we'll be camping among a lot of things we've been keeping in storage there for safety. It's going to be tight. Hopefully when they're done making the most godawful part of the mess in our original bedroom, we can move some of the stored stuff into that room and have a little more breathing room in the temporary bedroom. Because we think we're going to be camping like this until our new master bedroom is ready.
Sigh.
