ten months
Oct. 4th, 2017 03:52 pmA week ago this past Saturday, when I was back in the hometown looking after my mom, the prince was ten months old.
His first tooth was first visible on September 12, and by the 23rd he had two.
( Meanwhile, an illness. )
Friday he was doing much better and went back to day care, where he ate all his food for the first time all week, but he didn't want much dinner at home and again refused to nurse at bedtime - he sucked once or twice and then pulled away and fussed. Saturday morning I picked him up and thought surely now that he's feeling better and it's breakfast time he will nurse - but no. Pushed the boob away and arched his back and fussed.
I gave him to his dad and lay down and sobbed.
Sunday my mother-in-law texted to say she could see a top tooth starting to come in.
( More about nursing )
( And teething )
( And pumping )
( And feeding )
He's standing up easily and cruising cautiously and clapping his hands and blowing raspberries on my cheek when I ask for kisses, and if we ask him to give us something he has in his hand he will do it reliably and good-naturedly. He doesn't stay away from things we warn him away from or come to us when we ask, but I bet we can teach him to do these things. He's a sweet kid and very happy when he's not sick or cutting a tooth. Very best baby. I just want to keep doing right by him.
