(where Thursday was day 0, as we've been taught to reckon time here in these plague-ridden days)
Kid continues to test positive. Last Thursday, when we thought the kid was just feeling ooky from bolting his lunch and gagging on it (he was feeling fine Friday morning; we tested him out of an abundance of caution, and now here we are), he spent the afternoon at his grandparents', and this morning my father-in-law tested positive. He's got paxlovid already, so hopefully this maxes out at inconvenient for all of us.
MIL continues to test negative, as do Himself and myself, although none of us has really been able to isolate from the positive-testing ones in our homes. It is an ongoing mystery. The in-laws are our usual babysitting go-to for e.g. snow days and other times the kid is home but Himself and I are not off work, and of course they're not available right now while we're all quarantining. Worse, they're the primary help for Himself's aunt, who is not at all well and almost certainly shouldn't be living alone but can't get in an assisted place right now because Reasons (it's complicated), and of course they can't go visit her right now because she's the only family member in the metro area who hasn't been exposed and it's important to keep it that way. I've had some periods (some short, some long) of head-swimminess and have been doing my tests with a throat and nose swab to be extra sure, and they're negative right across the board so I'm putting the lightheadedness down to anxiety.
