Jun. 23rd, 2003 01:47 am-- but something very amusing.
at the barnes & noble here, there was much potter-related madness beginning at around nine. i spent most of the evening hanging around out front, chatting with others who didn't want to get swallowed by the crowds of kids inside the store, and also with a girl from the bath & body works a few doors down, who was handing out samples and letting people know their store was open until one if they wanted to take a break from the party. (smart.)
at one point, i did go in, to make a tour of the place and see if the four high school kids i'd agreed to give a ride home (to their dorm three blocks away from my apartment) had actually turned up in the first place. while i was inside, i thought what the hell, and had my picture taken with the poor guy in the hagrid costume (a real trooper if i ever saw one; it was about a hundred and fifty degrees in that place).
so i'm looking at the picture now, and here's me, and here's hagrid, and here's the bookshelves behind us, and here's the green and white barnes & noble sign labeling the section in which the pictures were being taken on harry potter extravaganza night:
