(this has been the extent of my participation in Talk Like A Pirate Day. thank you.)
got to my parents' safely at about 8:45 last night. put ice on my ankle and settled in front of the TV. my parents had been out, but got home about an hour later. we watched the rerun of queer eye (since they hadn't seen it on tuesday -- and, like, how weird is it that my parents are regular queer eye watchers?), but they declined to stay with me for the first part of in the shadow of two gunmen.
dad went to the airport early this morning for a week-long business trip of some sort, so mom and i have the place to ourselves. she and her sister were thinking of going to visit their parents, but this would have taken them across the path of what's left of the storm, and my grandmother specifically asked them not to. so, here we are. ( (odd conversation with mom around lunchtime:) )
it seems to have been a good idea to get out of the way of the storm, but i'm glad to see that the university reports that the campus and surrounding area -- which, i live close enough that i think i qualify -- suffered "minimal damage". there are still serious flood concerns, which wouldn't affect my apartment but would affect my getting in and out of town, but by sunday when i'm heading back things should have cleared up.
