-- "geeky" icon (in progress, at least in my head)
-- "yay" icon
-- paper on the dative case in russian impersonal sentences
-- paper on the lexicalization of russian deverbal participial adjectives
-- someone to pack all my stuff so i can move at the end of the month (mom is coming to help with this)
-- someone to take care of all the crap associated with moving, e.g. disconnecting gas, electricity, phone, cable; renting truck; setting up phone, cable, etc. in new place.

huh. it's just occurred to me to wonder what the deal is going to be with disconnecting the gas. i'm not paying for it after i don't live here any more, but it's the middle of winter, and no gas = no heat, and no heat = possibility of busted water pipes.

but: not my problem! will mention to management company.

here i go

orals in 18 minutes. that's enough time for me to walk over there and have a smoke before facing the firing squad committee.

i don't actually know anything. let's see if i can make them believe i do. (i didn't actually get into drama school [mumble] years ago, so we know i'm not that much of an actor ...)

PASSED.

i thought there was a box for "failed" and a box for "passed" and a box for "passed with distinction", but i was mistaken -- it was just Yes or No. which is better! because if i'd had the chance to pass with distinction, i'd have been disappointed if i hadn't gotten it.

now i have a paper to finish, two more papers to write, a final to take, and a stack of exams to grade, and then i'll be done. woo-hoo!
fox: arctic fox: time to hibernate (hibernate)
something just happened that made my floor shake. don't know what, but it shook pretty violently. and i stuck my head out on the landing, and two of my three neighbors up here on the third floor report the same thing. i'm on the front of the building and they're on the back, and they say their walls were creaking and windows were rattling.

um ...

[eta: my neighbor just knocked on the door to tell me, and [livejournal.com profile] bougrelasxiv has supplied a link below apparently telling us, that it was an earthquake. cause we totally expect those on the east coast. heh.]

the earthquake was my fault, guys. sorry about that. i passed my orals, and [deity of your choice] said "SMITE!"
