news flash:
Mar. 5th, 2004 08:03 amour friends beat the bad guys!
darthrami and i called the club when we got home, in the hope of learning how the late games had ended, but DC answered the phone and just making him understand the question took five minutes -- at the end of which he told us sheet A had just come off the ice, but the rest of the games were still ongoing. (our guys lost that game.) but, thanks to the miracles of the internet, i can now report:
sheet A -- RA, RB, DA and KF lost to a broomstones team
sheet B -- MB, KR, JS and AS defeated utica III [backflip]*
sheet C -- DH, NP, PP and KH lost to a broomstones team
sheet D -- RC, DB, JS and JT defeated cape cod
huzzah for the home team! (that's five out of eight potomac teams to win their first game, so far.)
* in fairness, i understand that the new front end of this team is okay. the skip is the same, though, and what i saw of him in the ten minutes i was watching the game made me suspect that little has changed.

longer version
Mar. 5th, 2004 10:41 amwon the toss. took two in the first; stole two in the second; stole one each in the third, fourth, and fifth; stole three in the sixth; gave up two in the seventh; took two (though some specators said three) in the eighth. this was gratifying, but it would have been more so if both teams had been playing well -- which just wasn't the case. all the same, it was the most decisive score in the first round, and a couple of people have told us we're considered the team to beat. (that's terrifying.) at work at the moment, just for a couple of hours to get to a full week's worth of time, and then getting out of here and heading back up to the club. next game: 7:45 this evening.
