having just sent an e-mail last night to my supervisor that i'd found a topic that suits me far better than the Old English/Celtic stuff i'd been considerng but never really able to articulate, i now get this from the department secretary:

The Trustees of the Sir John Rhys Fund invite applications from persons engaged in graduate research in Celtic Studies who need financial support in respect of living expenses or fees.

ah, well.  a topic i can't define, which would set me up for so much work i'd have no chance not to make myself sick, isn't worth the possibility of maybe getting some funding.  but, dudes, the timing.  perfect.  :-)
