fox: my left eye. "ceci n'est pas une fox." (not-fox)
this morning:  dreamed that [livejournal.com profile] datlowen and [livejournal.com profile] darthrami and i (in some car i'm not acquainted with, but that belonged to [livejournal.com profile] darthrami) were out for ... lunch?  i don't think it was dinner.  and we met some friend of -- ours?  i guess he was, in the context of the dream, though i have no idea who it was as i've never seen him before -- at a random italian-type place we were all familiar with, but which had doors on like three sides so when i went to put something in the trunk i got lost and it took me fifteen minutes to get back to the table.  also the version of "no-one but you" that [livejournal.com profile] darthrami was playing in the car was a cover by someone other than Queen (or what was left of them), and for the first time i realized that it wasn't the version i knew, and i said "oh, no wonder it's never sounded quite right!" or similar, and it was news to her that her version wasn't the only or even the original version.  so there was much hooking-up of iPods to speakers and whatnot so i could play the Queen (read: real) version.  and [livejournal.com profile] datlowen wanted to leave promptly at some time or other because he had to meet someone? pick up his brother? i don't remember where he had to be, but just as we were going, i ran into my math teacher (!), who was my math teacher in the dream but was actually in real life my crazy Russian professor from my last semester at UVa, the one not one of us could ever figure out (the Russian speakers could understand her when she spoke Russian, but not the linguistics she was talking about; and i didn't speak enough Russian to get what she was saying, but i assured them that the linguistics didn't make a ton of sense in English either -- crazy semanticists), and she wanted to go over an assignment with me.  so here's me showing her what i've done, and showing my work, and for every question she seems not to like that i've explained why this or that doesn't work before explaining what does work and giving the answer.  but she does want me to explain these things!  it takes about twenty minutes for me to get out of her that yes, my answers are correct and my explanations are sound, but she'd like me to give the right answer first, please, and then do the explaining.  (no need for [livejournal.com profile] orange852 to try to interpret that bit.  it's pretty transparent.  [g])  and when i got downstairs (this math tutorial was in a sort of mezzanine-level area of the restaurant, apparently), [livejournal.com profile] darthrami and [livejournal.com profile] datlowen were still there waiting for me.  and i was glad, and [livejournal.com profile] datlowen wasn't even all that annoyed at me for keeping him late when he'd wanted to go wherever it was half an hour before.
