fox: my left eye. "ceci n'est pas une fox." (not-fox)
and it makes my hair tangly, and it makes my sinuses hurt.  but, yay, london.  love it.

that's about all i've got on yesterday.  must do much reading today, and whatnot, because RotS tonight, huzzah!  (am trying not to feel spoiled by people's uncut "spoiler-free" reactions.  grar.)

so a variety of things have been buzzing along since yesterday's disappointing loss of Now 14 in the eBay auction.

1.  i found a collectibles site whose owner talks about various things for sale and also about the UK "Now" series.  there was an e-mail address to contact about buying things, so i dropped a note and said i couldn't tell if she had the Now 14 CD for sale or what, but if so, i was interested in talking about a fair price -- or even, really, about renting it or something; i'm not a collector, i said, and i only care about the tunes themselves, so i'd rip the thing into iTunes and send it back, and you could make money off the same product twice.

2.  i sent an e-mail to the winner of the auction saying well done, you got in just at the last second and beat me -- but listen, i have a proposition for you.  i suggested we work out some arrangement such as i'd pay 1/3 of his winning bid and he'd send me the tracks via YSI, because, again, i'm not a collector and i don't care about the disks themselves.

3.  [livejournal.com profile] juice817 and [livejournal.com profile] sebastienne leaped to my rescue and started sending me tracks via YSI while i was away in london.

when i returned last night, i had so much e-mail!

1.  the girl from the collectibles site had written me back to say she doesn't have the CD for sale, but would make me a copy and send it in a blank double case for £7 including shipping.  (keep in mind i had bid £30, with shipping something like £2.00 extra.  i don't know why this alternate option didn't occur to me in the first place.)

2.  the winner wrote me back saying he was willing to talk about sharing the content of the CDs with me and (as far as he was concerned) with other people as well, since he understood that i was interested in the music and not in the discs, packaging, etc. themselves.  he also sent me a link to the sniping service he'd used to beat me, so that i can bid more successfully in future.  :-)  i don't use eBay that often, but apparently (a) sniping is legal and legit, although it sort of sucks for those of us who get sniped, and (b) he gets credit for referring people to the service, so here's the link, if anyone wants to sign up:  http://www.bidnapper.com/?refuser=theweyin

3.  i have all the tracks for free from my lovely lovely friends, so i wrote back to collector-girl and sniper-boy both and said thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly and being so cool, but i'm actually all set!

and now i am download girl, and i have blank CDs so that i can burn and re-rip and thus get around [livejournal.com profile] juice817's two iTunes-purchased tracks, and wheee!

[loves the lovely girls][yay!]

CDs burning to get around the iTunes password requirement in a couple of cases (and i'm doing some stuff i've bought from iTunes while i'm at it), but besides the modern technology, my god, i am eleven again.
