fox: arctic fox: time to hibernate (hibernate)
slept right through the alarm this morning.  that hasn't happened since -- a while ago.  i mean i opened my eyes and looked at the clock and the alarm should have (and i assume it did) go off an hour earlier.

so i reset it, because getting up at that point would have been nigh onto impossible, and turned over, and did hear it when it went off again, but just barely.

man.  urgh.  sluggish today.

so one of my senators is in the class that's coming up for re-election next november.  i know this because -- well, because the senate website told me so, for one thing, but also because i read a little while ago in the post where things are going so badly for republicans in my (red) state that the state democratic party is considering mounting a challenge to that senator, if they can find a good candidate.  and i swear my first thought was, oh my god they should totally run me.

what?!  i'd be a fantastic senator.  or at least i could be.  (a number of you could be.  i don't mean to suggest that i'm in any way different from most of the people i choose to consider my friends.  ... some of you even share my senators, and you know, you'd be good, too.)  the trouble is, i'd be a lousy candidate.  i mean, on the one hand, my opponents would have a hard time smearing me, since nobody's ever really heard of me; but on the other hand, nobody's ever really heard of me.  which i suppose can be a handicap.

so i'm actually, okay, i have no assets of my own and no legal training, nobody's ever heard of me, and i'm actually too young for the job.  so i'd be a terrible, in fact a wretched candidate.  but that's a shame, because i really do think i'd be a good senator.  or i could be.
