fox: curling stones: i love this game (curling)
Once upon a time, there was a girl who liked curling. And one of her best friends was a boy who liked curling even more. They, and two more of their friends, had decided to go to a bonspiel for five-and-under curlers, but Our Heroes thought, you know, we should maybe get some experience playing together before then, whadaya say? And they suggested going to the Funspiel, a bonspiel at a nearby club. Their Teammates didn't have the free time, unfortunately, but Our Heroes put out a plaintive call for teammates and the Club Yenta did her thing and put them together with Skip B and Vice D. They went to the spiel and had fun, and played together in many spiels afterwards as well.

Then Our Heroine went away to graduate school; she knew she'd be coming back someday, but it was sad all the same. And she made her friend an icon of the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz, on account of he's gayer than a gay thing and she knew she'd miss him a lot. (Friend of Dorothy, don't you know, and it's the scarecrow she tells "I think I'm going to miss you most of all.")

And two years later, Our Heroine came home, and it wasn't long before everyone was talking about curling again; only her friend couldn't play in the first bonspiel, but he said (among other things) maybe let's do the Funspiel again! And then one morning, Our Heroine got a notice for the Funspiel, and do you know what this year's theme is?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

OMFG is it too perfect or what? We'll need a Tin Man and a Lion (actually, "or what", because if things haven't changed it's a mixed spiel -- but not a huge biggie, surely), but JFC I just about fell out of my chair when I got that e-mail. Ha!

B: Ted Danson? Sam?
A: No, not him, the other one.
C: Woody Allen.
B: I think you mean Woody Harrelson.

I bow to the wishes of [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine.  We are our own survey subjects! and we're to get back to her with data.  So do please take the following poll, won't you?

[eta:  in which the question means "what fannish archetype am I, that is, Fox?"  Or, "what fannish archetype is Fox?"  You're answering the question about me, not about your own selves.]

[Poll #831726]

Thankyew!

Sorry, sweetie, you're still not Johnny Depp.  Hate to disappoint you.  Listen, it's better this way -- this way you get to be sober!
