Only potato loaf and hamburger buns downstairs; and only caffeine-free soda.  Looks like I'm going to have to actually go to the actual grocery store.

On a Saturday.  Oy.

Well, best make a list.  There's other things I'll need as well.

In addition to the myriad other uses I have in mind, I need me a Boy to help me carry the groceries, is what.

I have achieved bread, soda, eggs, butter, three kinds of jam, and! they are now selling Lactaid in jugs bigger than a half-gallon!  Just 96 oz., which has always puzzled me (about juice, as well) -- it's not an even number of liters, so wtf, just go up to a gallon already -- but still, bigger than a half, and it doesn't go off (not in human time frames), so everybody's a winner.  Also dishwasher pellets.  And apples, and pickles.

Now I have things defrosting in the sink with which to make some lunches and some dinners.  Weekends at home are good!

Hmm, though -- I should have bought bread crumbs.  Ah well.  Maybe I'll toast some of the bread I just bought, and crunch that up.  As good a use as any for the end slices.

So the president of the Evangelical Theological Society has resigned in order to (re)join the Catholic church.

This has sent Christendom (or, you know, the evangelical community in the US -- I doubt a lot of the rest of the theological world cares much, but I really wanted to use the word "Christendom") into a tizzy.  One professor at a seminary called it "a sad day for all the sons and daughters of the Protestant Reformation".  But the reason I bring it up is that the WaPo article linked above includes the following paragraph:
Beckwith is not the first, or even the most prominent, evangelical to switch to Catholicism in recent years.  Others include Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), theologian Scott Hahn and the Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, editor of the journal First Things.  On the other side of the equation, the Catholic Church has been losing droves of ordinary worshipers to the Pentecostal form of evangelicalism, particularly in Latin America.
Makes a decent point, I think, which is that there's mobility in both directions; but what I especially like about this graf is the word "equation".  Not "chasm" or "schism" or even "divide" or "aisle" -- equation, y'all.  That's my clever staff writer.  That's my clever editor.

I have a package from Amazon.com.  I have not ordered anything from them, and the box isn't ticking or shedding white powder, so it must be birthday presents.  I am trying to be strong!, and not open it until Tuesday.  But it's difficult.  Monday will be all right, but today and tomorrow will be a challenge.  urgh!
