I remember when the back of the bag of potato chips had nutrition details on it and a comment that ran something like "No one said we had to include nutrition information on our packaging.  We just thought you'd like to know."

These days, of course, someone has said they have to include nutrition information, so they do -- although interestingly, I note that my beer and wine don't have any.  But what's really interesting is the serving sizes.  These are often reasonable, but also often comical, and sometimes even ludicrous; I don't think 1 cup of cereal is very much, but 3/4 cups is even less, which is the serving size for a lot of cereals on the shelf -- some of which are kids' cereals, so I can sort of get that, but some are clearly just tweaking the serving size so that the calories per serving won't look higher than for other products.  Heh.

In other cases, it goes the other way.  A serving of plain yogurt is one cup.  And while a cup of cereal isn't a lot, a cup of yogurt is, my god, a ton.  I've got a whole cup of yogurt with two tablespoons of jam in it, and damn.
