fox: curling: holding the broom for a hit. (vice)
So on my Friday team, my front end is new.  Like, brand new -- at second I've got a guy who was new in the last half, so he's been playing once or twice a week for four months, and at lead I've got his son, who's new this half, so he's played a couple times a week for ... two weeks.  They are, you know, obviously, not the strongest sweepers or the most accurate throwers or the best weight-callers in the world.  And last week, I think they were frustrated by that, on top of which we in the back end weren't making our shots either, so when we took two in the sixth and then shook, it was kind of a relief for everyone.

But this week, I was calling a better game, and -- to be fair -- our opponents were having a rough evening, and, best of all, the front-end guys were (more or less) making their shots!  In the seventh end, the first lead rock was a perfect center-line guard, exactly what I'd asked for and not by accident either!, and I raised my broom and crowed about how perfect the shot was, and I could see the kid beaming all the way from the hack.  :-)

Made a couple of good line calls, as well, and called a good double for the vice in the eighth, which was good, I admit, but not as spectacular as you'd have thought from hearing the sweepers' reaction -- but that's another thing, like, for the rookies, any double looks pretty damn impressive, and they were so pleased to have been able to help make this one, and that was a happy glowy feeling.  And then with my last shots, because we'd won but I wanted them to practice their weight calls, I drew in; and my first one went to the top twelve, as they'd predicted, so good on them!, and the second one, I threw an absolutely perfect draw to the button.  Which I have never done before.  It was fantastic.

I love my game.  :-)

(Okay, sorry, the episode title is "To the Last Man", but seriously, in the bit at the end -- you know the bit I mean -- I was totally expecting the above line.  Did not expect Tosh to start singing, though, so it was okay that she didn't.)
