challenge - day 3
Mar. 16th, 2008 12:39 amSo okay, I was really nervous this morning heading up to the club for our semifinal. Queasy in the car, jittery when I got there -- I confided in our lead that I was way anxious, but didn't want my other teammates, or the spectators, or god forbid our opponents to know.
Turns out I needn't have worried; we won the toss, took four in the first, stole one or two in the second, stole two or one in the third, gave up one in the fourth, and were looking at being in a bit of a bind in the fifth until our vice made a crucial pair of really excellent shots and then the opposing skip's draw went through so I just had to hit paint for, um. Five. At which point they packed it in. So that's four games: one we finished in six ends; one we were up something like 12-0 after six and most teams would have conceded, but we played all eight anyway; one we finished in six; and one we finished in five. Our opponents from the first game are quite proud of the fact that they were the only ones we've even had anything approaching a hard time with (remember, they took three in the first, we took three in the second, and they took two in the third, which was the last time we've been behind anyone on the scoreboard at all). In fact they took more points off us than our other three opponents combined.
I am trying not to think too hard about the final tomorrow. Instead, we will reflect that everyone loved my spangly purple dress and loved my silver go-go boots. Woo-hoo!
Hope I'll be able to sleep tonight.
