packing philosophy

Yesterday I packed most of my shoes and a box of dishes.  Today I've packed half the bathroom cabinet and half my closet.  I think the only thing to do is to keep pushing ahead, because there's nothing that's going to make any of this feel like progress.  I kind of can't stand it.

I have packed More Stuff.  I'm at a point now where the packing is kind of making me want to cry.  Normally I would therefore curl up and take an overwhelmed and mildly depressed nap for what would turn out to be a couple of hours.  Instead I will hit the shower and then head up to dsudis' going-away party.

But packing sucks.

+  It's really a startling amount of stuff that is already packed.  I will focus on this when I reflect that crying will not pack additional boxes.

-  There's a mildly alarming amount of stuff in the Discard pile and also in the Donate pile (both of which will grow, I'm sure, before I'm done here).  If only I got them the hell out of here, there'd be more room to put the packed stuff.

+  I could actually get them the hell out of here.

-  I don't know when.


In fact it will all be fine.  But this, the home stretch, is really, really, really the part I hate.
